Flower on Black

A couple of weeks ago I had the idea of trying a low key flower picture. But where to get a flower in blossom at the end of winter? Hm... Somehow I didn't think about my window board in first place.

I placed the flower pot on a small table and put a reflector behind it, with its black side providing the backdrop. I had a vague idea that I would need two flashes for what I had in mind. However, setting the light right was a challenge. Finally I figured out the right angles and the adequate power for the flashes. I used black cardboard paper to prevent the flashes from spilling light on the background ...et voilà! The picture below is pretty much out of camera, except for sharpening there was not more editing needed. Sounds easy? It is. But it needs time to figure out.
